ARC Mission Statement
The Mission of the Council is to promote and control the practice of architecture in the built environment with an objective of achieving sustainable projects and shelter development at district, municipal, metropolitan and national levels while also protecting the populace and national needs by ensuring high quality professional education, practice and conduct.
The Council will fulfill this through:
Promoting and assisting District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies in the enforcement of the National Building Regulations 1996 (L.I. 1630)
Ensure adherence to planning and environmental protection regulations and promote good and sustainable urban development
Support and promote policies aimed at national poverty reduction and access to decent housing shelter for all
Formulating programmes aimed at greater affordability of housing provisions being delivered by public and private agencies
Promoting research into and use of local building materials while finding good and durable local substitutes to costly imported building materials
Ensure quality education of the nation's manpower needs in the architectural and built environmental professions at all tiers including lower, middle and higher levels.
Maintaining high standards of professional practice, ethics and code of conduct by all practitioners
A. General Administration
Objective: To improve management performance through a highly skilled and well-motivated staff and efficient administration and information management system concerning the registration of architects and high standards of practice and protection of the public.
B. Service Activities
Objective: To promote greater relevance of the architectural and built environment professions to the general public through information dissemination and programmes aimed at improvements in conditions of living, decent shelter, physical planning and development, safe and livable environments. This would be done through training workshops, seminars, conferences, field activities, public awareness and continuing professional education.
